Guide
Body scrub and body pack: a simple guide
Two body-care treatments that often get mixed up. Here is what each one does and how to fit them around a massage.
The short version
A body scrub takes something away: dry, dead skin. A body pack puts something on: a layer of paste that rests on the skin for a while before it is removed. Both are 30 minute treatments on our menu, and you can book either one on its own.
Why people book a scrub
Skin sheds all the time, and dry weather, air conditioning and sun can leave it rough. Exfoliating clears that top layer away, so the skin feels smoother and takes moisturiser or massage oil better. Many guests book a scrub before a special occasion or as the first part of a longer visit.
Why people book a pack
A pack is the calmer half of the pair. You rest while it does its work, and the treatment ends with the skin feeling clean and soft. Because packs are made from different ingredients, ask us what is in ours on the day if your skin reacts easily.
When to skip them
- On sunburnt, broken, irritated or infected skin.
- Within a day of waxing or shaving.
- If you have a skin condition and your doctor has not said exfoliation is fine.
- If you are allergic to an ingredient in the scrub or pack.
Putting together a longer visit
The natural order is scrub, then pack, then massage, or scrub then massage if you only want two treatments. A Swedish or Ayurvedic massage after a scrub feels especially smooth, because the oil glides over freshly polished skin. Details of both treatments are on the body scrub and body pack page.
